Jeff Gauthier

I'm passionate about music and the arts. I've had an active career as violinist and producer of live and recorded music for over 35 years, and currently work as an independent grant writer and nonprofit consultant. Over the years I've served as executive director, development associate and board officer of several nonprofits in support of jazz, classical and new music.

I'm fortunate to have worked with some of the most talented musicians in the world in a variety of creative contexts, during a multifaceted career that has spanned over three decades.  As executive director of the Jazz Bakery for 6 1/2 years, I managed one of the most important jazz organizations in Southern California. Before that I was co-artistic director of the Angel City Jazz Festival with Rocco Somazzi, and was co-founder and executive director of Angel City Arts, its nonprofit parent organization. I produced several concert series in Los Angeles, including the Inner Ear series and the long-running Cryptonight new music series at the Club Tropical in Culver City. I was founder of and in-house producer for Cryptogramophone Records which was named the #4 Best Jazz Label in the 2007 DownBeat Critics Poll, and has become one of the premiere West Coast labels for cutting-edge jazz. I've produced and performed on six recordings as a leader, and many others as a sideman or orchestral musician, and I also worked as a violinist in film and TV for many years.

Currently I'm serving as Associate Director and grant writer for Piano Spheres, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to presenting new and unusual music for the piano in Los Angeles.
