Jeff Gauthier

I'm passionate about music and the arts. I've been a violinist and producer of live and recorded music for over 35 years, and currently work as an independent grant writer and nonprofit consultant. Over the years I've served as executive director and board officer of several nonprofits in support of jazz, classical and new music.

I've worked with some of the most accomplished musicians in the world during a career that has spanned over 35 years. As executive director of the Jazz Bakery for seven years, I managed one of the most important jazz organizations in Southern California. I was a DownBeat magazine “Rising Star” jazz violinist and #1 Rising Star Jazz Producer in 2012. I was co-artistic director of the acclaimed Angel City Jazz Festival with Rocco Somazzi, and was founder and executive director of Angel City Arts, its nonprofit parent organization. I produced several concert series in Los Angeles, including the Inner Ear series and the long-running Cryptonight new music series at the Club Tropical in Culver City. I was founder of and producer for Cryptogramophone Records which was named the #4 Best Jazz Label in the 2007 DownBeat Critics Poll, and has become one of the premiere West Coast labels for cutting-edge jazz. I've played the violin on six recordings as a leader, and many others as a sideman or orchestral musician, and worked in film and TV for many years.
